With acetate buffer of pH 4.5 clear extracts of tissues could be obtained. They contained the alkaline and acid phosphatases. The mixture of the serum and the acid extract obtained was analyzed electrophoretically and the solution was forced dropwise from both channels. Enzymatic activity and conductivity of the collected drops were measured. By means of the gradient curves of conductivity, the activity curves of the enzymes could be correlated with the optical pattern of the solution analysed. The alkaline phosphatases of serum, kidney and intestinal mucosa were electrophoretically identical. The same held with the acid phosphatases of the latter two tissues.
