Outpatient records of neurology clinic of Yamaguchi University Hospital during 1983 were investigated concerning number, percentage and residence of each disease. Total number of neurological patients was 614 and the number of epilepsy was 244. The number of newly visited patients was 361, consisting of 44 epileptic, 317 non-epileptic patients. Epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy, extrapyramidal disease, parkinson syndrome, headache, cerebrovascular disease, in the order named, were the most common diagnosis. The number of the patients who visit our clinic more than 4 years was 155, and 87.7% of them was that of epilepsy. The residence of about half of the outpatients was Ube City. The number of the newly admitted neurological patients other than epilepsy was markedly increased in 1983 compared with that of previous few years. The reasons and meanings of which were considered in this report.
