The measurement of the serum amylase is very important in the diagnosis of pancreatic diseases. However, the measurement of the serum amylase only does not elucidate pathogenesis of these diseases. For this reason, the author analysed the serum amylase and amylase isozymes by cellulose acetate electrophoresis in 133 healthy adults. The distribution change of pancreatic and salivary amylase in aging was also studied.
