The exocrine pancreatic function test has been used to make a precise diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis. The Caerulein-Secretin test (C-S test) using Caerulein in place of Pancreozymin was carried out in cases of chronic pancreatitis and other diseases. The results of the C-S test were as follows. In 78 cases of chronic pancreatitis, 35 cases revealed low level of three factors, and 45 cases showed low level of two factors. In chronic pancreatitis, volume : 1.82±0.86ml/kg, maximum bicarbonate concentration (MBC) : 65.5±30.3mEq/L, total amylase output : 1212±1007u/kg. In other diseases, 2 cases revealed low level of three factors and 10 cases showed low level of two factors. The MBC was the most important factor in the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis. Author made two kinds of different criteria in regard to MBG and compared with both of the results. The hypersecretion was not observed in chronic pancreatitis, but found in other diseases. The further examination should be necessary to study about the hypersecretion.
