An autopsy case of acute rheumatic myocarditis in 87-year-old man was reported and the literature was reviewed broefly. The patient is the oldest one in whom reumatic activity was found. Microscopically, many Aschoff nodules were seen in the interstitial connective tissue of the myocardium particularly perivascularly, although few evidences suggestive of rheumatic fever were recognized clinically. It may be better to bear a possibility of rheumatic fever in mind on examination of the fevered old patient.
