In order to examine the uptake, distribution and metabolism of trichloroethylene(TRI) in the body, some kinds of experiments using anesthetized dogs were examined. About 50-60% of absorbed TRI was excreted from expired air for unchanged substance, and that of rest was metabolized in the body and excreted into urine and feces. About 18% of the absorbed the TRI would be metabolized to chloral hydrate(CH), trichloroethanol (TCE) and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for one hour after the end of exposure, The abosorption rates of TRI from the intestine were very high levels. For this reason,TRI containing in the drinking water were almost absorbed in the body. The metabolism rates of the extrahepatic organs were about 25% of absorbed TRI. The metabolism from CH to F-TCE were mainly conducted in the extrahepatic organs.
