Using the method of ultracentrifugation and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, serum lipoprotein was analyzed in 8 uremic rabbits with increased serum creatinine, serum triglyceride and total cholesterol. In polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, all 8 rabbits had a wide and dense midband lipoprotein between the beta and pre-beta lipoprotein, which was consistent with the density of 1.006-1.063 in ultracentrifugation. These results suggest that the midband lipoprotein is the subfraction of low density lipoprotein in ultracentrifugation and appeared in the uremic rabbits.
