We have previously reported the tumoricidal effect of a single high-voltage electrical impulse on a tumor together with an anticancer drug treatment, i.e., electrical impulse chemotherapy. We studied the intracellular influx of anticancer drug in electrical impulse chemotherapy by means of the analysis of the anticancer drug concentration in tumor and normal mucosa. Before resection of the stomach, a single electrical impulse (5KV.,3ms) were applied in 15 patients with advanced gastric cancer 2 hours after the intravenous administration of Cisplatin (35mg/m2). The concentration of Cisplatin was 0.80^+_- 0.16μg/g in tumor, which was significantly higher as compared with the values of 0.60^+_-0.15μg/g in normal mucosa (p<0.05). It is suggested that spike wave electrical impulse chemotherapy induce electroporation of the cell membrane and permit the intracellular influx of a large amount of anticancer drug, exerting a strong cartinostatic effect.
