Direct analysis of methamphetamine and its related compounds is usually diffieult by gas chromatography, because of the methylamino, amino, hydroxyl and carboxyl groups that react with the column supporter to form a hydrogen bonnd. In the study here, the specimens were first converted to trimethylsilyl derivatives by reaction with hexamethyldisilazane and trimethylchlorsilane, and these derivatives were submitted to gas chromatography. Compounds other than methamphetamine were successfully trimethylsilylated, and the calibration curves were depicted on the basis of the peak area or peak length ratio of each derivatives against the respective, corresponding internal standard. The resulting curves indicated linear relatioships.
