Coronary arteriography was performed within 6 months (mean 2.7 months) following initial acute transmural myocardial infarction in 99 patients. Total occlusion in the involved artery was observed in 43% of these patients, whereas less than 90% stenosis was seen in 38% of them. To evaluate the left ventricular function in these patients, patients with signficant coronary stenosis in other arteries were excluded. Twenty four patients had total occlusion in the involved artery (group A
