Descriptions
Two cases of Listeria monocytogenes meningitis were reported. Case 1: One-year-old boy complained of vomiting and somnolence. The examination of spinal fluid showed the findings of purulent meningitis (cell count 20656/3, protein 300mg/dl, suger under 25mg/dl), and Listeria monocytogenes was detected from the spinal fluid. Case 2: Three-year-old girl complained of fever and headache. The examination of spinal fluid showed the findings of purulent meningitis (cell count 5136/3, protein 94mg/dl, sugar 32mg/dl), and Listeria monocytogenes was detected from the spinal fluid. There patients were treated with a large quantity of Aminobenzyl-Penicillin (200-400 mg/Kg/day), showing good prognosis that the findings of spinal fluid were improved quickly and they could be discharged well after several weeks of admission.
