During the period November of 1966 to October of 1967, I have examined the intestinal protozoa of swine in Hirosima, and have found instances of infection of the caeca by Balantidium coli. The incidence of infection with this protozoa was 95.9% in female swine, and 89.8% in male swine. The size and structure of Balantidium coli were indicated. The ciliate were cultivated on the Tanabe-Komada medium.
