Several 2-substituted and 2,7-(or 3,6-) disubstituted 9-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyloxy) fluorene derivatives [1] were synthesized, and the electronic spectra of 1 in chloroform were obtained. From the fact that the absorption bands in the spectra of colored 2,7-dimethoxy-[1g] and 2-(N, N-dimethylamino)-9-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyloxy) fluorene [1h] particularly shifted to longer wave length, it turned out those compounds 1g and 1h were formed into the intramolecular charge-transfer complexes (the absorption maxima of the charge-transfer bands were 352nm and 367nm, respectively).
