This paper presents the clinical results of patients with laminoplasty for cervical spondylotic myelopathy(CSM). The follow-up terms were more than 10 years after surgery. There were 28 males and 8 females with ages ranging 39 to 73 years old(average 52 years old) . The duration of follow-up ranged from 10 years to 25 years(average 17 years) . At the time of discharge, 31 patients(86%) were excellent or good. At the time of the follow-up, there were 21 patients(57%) in these categories. The best clinical results were obtained I year after surgery. Postoperative malalignment was rare and postoperative range of motion (ROM) of the neck was 58% of preoperative. There were 13 patients(36%) with intervertebral instability preoperatively. After the laminoplasty, the instability continued in 5 patients and disappeared in 8 patients.There were 28 patients(78%) without postoperative changes of cervical alignment. Laminoplasty is very useful procedures in the point of postoperative malalignment and clinical results.
