Descriptions
The influence of the bile acids on the human and rat gastric mucosa was studied. The deffensive factors, for example, gastric mucosal blood flow (BF), potential difference (PD), or labelling index (L. I.) were measured. I. Experimental study BF 30min. after administration of 10 mM taurocholate (TCA) was decreased and L. I. was slightly increased. BF was decreased 15min. and PD was decreased 30min., and L. I. was increased 30min., after 20mM TCA administration. II. Clinical study BF tended to decrease 30min., 60min. after TCA administration, but it's decrease did not show statistical significance to the control. PD was significantly decreased 60min. after (p<0.05). L. I. was not significantly changed. III. Study of the residual stomach The BF and PD of the residual stomach were decreased significantly (p<0.01) both in the lesser curvature and greater curvature. Concerning BF and PD between the cases with residual stmach of served less than ten years and more than ten years after operation, statistical difference was not seen. Regarding the causative disease for operation, any significant difference were not noted in gastric BF and PD between the cases operated for duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer. It is suggested that the changes of the gastric mucosal deffensive factors after bile acid stimulation deppends upon three factors, concentration of bile acids, volume, and the duration time of stimulation.
