A Statistical Survey of 416 Operative Cases of Inguinal Hernia

A series comprised of 416 patients (3 with internal inguinal hernia, 30 with femoral hernia, and 383 with external inguinal hernia ) is presented. The age and sex of patients and the site of lesions are described. The age distribution is from two weeks old to 84 years old, sex ratio is male 3 : female 1, and affected site is right 50.8 : left 35.7 : bilateral 13.5. These results are on the whole as same as previous reports in Japan. Methods of anesthesia and operative procedures are also described and discussed. Methods of anesthsia with Ketalar in early childhood and infancy. Operative procedures we procedure and of Lucas-Championniere's procedure. These procedurea and indications are discussed in this report. It is left that these methods of managemet will be useful to physicians who see this practice frequently. Five cases of this series were recurred and postoperative complications were less common.
