Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) using endoscope (JF type B. Olympus Co.) was performed in 300 cases clinically suspected to have diseases in the duodenum, pancreatic or biliary tract from November 1970 to July 1974, accurate diagnosis was experienced in 97 cases by selective pancreatography and 140 cases by selective cholangiography. We believe that ERCP will be most excellent technique of diagnosis for pancreatic diseases and differential diagnosis of obstructive jaundice, especialy malignant disease of the pancreas and choledochus. By this technique we have been able to diagnose 12 cases with cancer of the pancreas, 3 cases with cancer of the gallbladder, 8 eases with cancer of the hepatic hilus and dile duct, and 1 case with cancer of the papilla Vateri. The cases with malignancy of the pancreas and the choledochus are mostly so advanced that neoplasmas could not be resected curativelely. However it is our firm belief that early diagnosis of the cancer of pancreatic or biliary tract by ERCP would surely become possible in the near future.
