Descriptions
In Yamaguchi prefecture, recently weathered soils of Sangun metamorphic rock have been used as an earthwork material in cases of reclamation and back-fill. Physical properties, compaction and CBR tests were performed on 14 these weathered soils. From the test results, it was shown that these soils could not be used as the earthwork material for reclamation without any soil improvement. Therefore, cement stabilization was proposed as a soil improvement method. On the basis of compaction and CBR test results regarding the cement-treated soil, the maximum dry density and optimum water content did not change, but the CBR value increased remarkably.
