In general, a suitable heating temperature exists in hot machining. In this research, therefore, the characteristics of heating temperature in Local Electric Resistance Heating Method under various conditions were investigated. The results of these experiments are as follows : (1) Considerably high temperature is obtained by this heating method. (2) The temperature of electrode rises in proportion to electric current. (3) When the surface speed of work is low, the temperature of electrode tends to go down as a result of the increase of surface speed, but when the speed is high, the temperature tends to rise. (4) The tempereture of electrode is little affected by feed.
