Descriptions
This study aims to formulate the carbide tool chipping test with reference to the variatoin of the engagement angle and the disengagement angle in order to minimize the tool tip wear of a face milling cutter. These tests are carried out using a cylindrical workpiece to simplify the chipping test due to the variation of cutting force and temperature It is found that the peak value of cutting force variation occurs about at 0 to degree of engagement angle and disengement angle. It is difficult to correlate the cutting temperature to the angle of engagement.
