The issue of ”teaching children how to express themselves by producing music ”has been introduced in the new Course of Study for Elementary School, and the teachers are highly interested in this creative method ofleaming music. Probably renecting the trend, a great number of teachers have participated in the Music Education Seminar, which is concerned with creative methods, provided annually at Yamaguchi university for the past few years. The number of participants seems to show also that the teachers have a lot of problems, as well as interest, in practicing creative methods.
