According to the recent minute re-examination of Japanese Aphididae, the author has found the following three points: (1) Aulacorthum pelargonii SUENAGA(nec KALTENBACH)(1943),recorded as a potato pest from northern Japan,is not the same as A.pelargonii(KALTENBACH)which is distributed in America and Europe. The author believes that the Japanese specimens slightly differ from A.pelargonii(KALTENBACH)in the characters of the cauda, and should be given the name of A.matsumuraeanum(HORI). (2) Recently, the author has learned that Aulacorthum solani(KALTENBACH)which is a famous potato aphid, distributed widely in America and Europe,is found in southern Japan. However this same species has not been observed to have any relationships to the potatoes in Japan. (3) Myzus gumi SHINJI(1922), and Myzus linderae SHINJI(1922),are probably synonymous with Aulacorthum olani(KALTENBACH).
