On some aspects of the geomagnetic field as a subject matter in the school science

理科教材としての”地球磁場”学習上の1・2の問題点
Domen Haruo
Descriptions
The present author has emphasized that the recongition of the existence of the geomagnetic field surrounding us is very important at the school science education because of the understanding of our ”living earth”. In order to help understanding of this concept better, he shows how a tiny magnetic needle disturbs and interrupts the uniform stream of the earth's magnetic field. Then he also measured both the intensity of the horizontal component of the geomagnetic field and the magnetic moment of the tiny bar magnet used in this study. It should be noticed that all of the experiments presented here were made on his desk at home without any heavy-duty instruments and not at laboratory.
