The Effect of Moenomycin Supplementation on Growth and Egg Laving of the Fowl

Trials had been conducted with fowls, single-comb white leghorn, to determine the efficacy of Moenomycin, 3-nitro-4 hydroxy phenylarsonic acid on their growth and egg laying during 86 weeks. Three of four lots, each consisting of 100 chickens were supplemented with Moenomycin, 1.0, 2.5 and 5.0 ppm in the diet, respectively, and one lot made a control without the supplementation. The results obtained were as follows: (1) Growth and feed conversion ratio: Although due to weekly fluctuations of the growth, it was not possible to judge the best one among each lot of Moenomycin supplementation, the growth as judged at the last period (22nd week) of growing and the feed conversion ratio were found better in all lots with Moenomycin than control. ....
