1. The soft X-ray apparatus “Softex” was used for the observation of ears of wheat, barley and oats. 2. This apparatus was useful in observing the effects of short-or long-day treatment on the growth of the young ears of these plants.3. Especially, frost injury of the ears was clearly observed by this method.
