Thin small piece ( 1 cm. × 0.8cm.) of timbers is burned up in the Ohara's apparatus slowly for many hours. The whitened ash is put on a slide glass and covered with xylol or anilin oil. The structure of ash figure, the form, quantity and size of crystals and their disposition in the ash are examined under microscope. The results obtained are as follows:
