Descriptions
As the cultivation of paddy rice m Misima Island depends mostly on rain water and the deeply irrigated field is enclcsed with the high bank, the plants are generally weak with a few tillers. The Misima cattle is the most necessary for plowing the paddy fields- For all that the cattle has poor physipue with weak drawing power and the plows used are of the long-bottom type. The growth of the soy bean is poor, because the plant is sown by the broadcasting method on clay-like soil shallowly plowed. In order to escape the damage from drought, the soy beans are often mix- planted with the sesame plants which have higher resistance to drought.
