1. Protoplasmic streaming in various hair cells of crop plants was observed with a variable-phase-contrast microscope. 2. Protoplasmic streaming was observed in crop plants covering over 28 species (16 families). 3. The type of protoplasmic streaming and the difficulty of observation differed with the species or parts of plants.
