(1)The 17 th joint competitive exhibition of animal husbandry of Chugoku washeld at Tokuyama city , Yamaguti prefecture during the period between the 10th to 15th of May, 1956. The writer studied fifteen hens which won first and second prizes. (2)Six characters of the body of prize hens measured : body length (A-B),body width (A'-A″),chest depth(A'-C),loin width(F-F'),belly width (D-E),belly depth(F-D)(Fig.1). Biometrical value of the measured constants, namely, the mean value(M),the standard deviasion (σ) and the normal type (M ±σ) were caluculated(Table 1). (3)The measured characters of body No.14 which won first prize were “M~M+σ゙”in biometrical value. Those of N0.12,N0.32 and N0.46 fitted into the nomaltype(M ±σ). From these results it may be concluded that the body characteristics of symmetrical hens are found to agree with the normal type.
