The following is a report on the soil survey of Oosima-gun. Oosima-gun consists mainly of the island called Ooaima which is the third largest island in the Inland Sea. The'soil survey was conducted on the paddy fields, which cover the area of 838.35 cho, and'which are located'at the west part of the island. The area above mentioned consists of the soils of the following & types. (1) Black muddy soil. (2) Low-land gray soil. (3) Low-land gray soil having sand layer. (4) Mountain foot brown soil. Humus, nitrogen, and dilute acid soluble P2O5 and K2O contents, and absorptive powers for P and K of the 33 soil samples were determined , and silica and manganese contents of the rice plants which grown on the same fields as soil samples were taken, were also determined, then the suggestions to improve in manuring for rice plant culture were given.
