1.The soft X－ray apparatus“Softex－J”was used to study the res－ ponse of wheat （3 varieties）and barley （2 varieties) to vernalization 2 When the young ears died before the heading stage from various meteorological or biological injuries, this apparatus was useful for obser－ving the effect of vernalization.
