学名はKITAMURA (1978)および北村(1981)に従い､旧属名は( )内に記入するが､引用文献においてはその著者が使用されたChrysa･lemun 山口県萩市相島は萩市市街地の西北方､長門市青海島の北東方に位置する島である｡同島に自生する野生菊については､これまでに､岡･ほか(1972)にChrysanthemum indicum Linn. シマカンギクの標本採集地の中に相島の地名があるだけでくわしい調査はなされていなかった｡筆者は山口県産(生育)のキク科植物に関する種生物学的研究の一部として､同島に自生する野生菊について形態学的および核学的調査を行なったので､その概略を報告する｡
