Recently, four dozens of Tertiary andesitic and Quaternary basaltic rocks and twenty six of Quaternary basaltic rocks were sampled from two different districts in north-eastern Yamaguchi Prefecture, west Japan respectively. Those natural remanent magnetizations (NRM) were measured and some of them were submitted to af-demagnetization and to thermo magnetic analysis. Since 1950 (Domen 1960, 1965), not a few of Quaternary basalt samples and some other Cenozoic, Mesozoic and also few rocks of Paleozoic of Yamaguchi Prefecture, had been sampled and both paleomagnetic and rock magnetic studies on these samples have been carried out mainly by one of the present authors (H.D.) who have always intended to expand the sampling area in Yamaguchi Prefecture and its vicinity as wide and many as possible in both geologic ages and areas.
