Hepatitis B virus may be spread nonparenteral routes, and there is evidence that saliva may be a route of significance. The close contact that the dentist and the hygienist have with both saliva and blood suggests that they examine carefully the status of their patients. Contact of hands with blood and saliva repeatly expose the practicing dentist to potentially infectious materials. If the risk is high, then the dentist should be advised to take special precautions to protect himself and his Staff. Recommendation are to use many disporsable products as possible. In addition, wear a face mask and protective glasses, use disporsable gloves, autoclave or dry heat Sterilize all instruments.
