Domestic animals make the most of their sense of hearing and sense of smell which are very keen and highly developed. It is, therefore, generally believed that their sense of vision does not matter much. But now the writer has compared in several points the sense of light of domstic animals with that of man. He has come to the conclusion that these animals have eyes of such a structure that they can operate freely in places of scanty light. Table 3 shows F/D of the lightness of image on the retina calculated in the same way as the calculating the lightness of camera. The result shows that the eyes of a cat are the lightest
