Fagaceae in the compound of 17 shrines in Syuho-cho, 10 shrines in Misumi-cho, and 14 shrines in Nagato-shi was investigated. Twelve species, 8 broad-leaf evergreen species and 4 broad-leaf deciduous species, belonging to four genera, were found: Quercus glauca (in 20 shrines), Q.myrsinaefolia (in 12), Q.acuta (in 2 ), Q.salicina (in 11), Q.sessilifolia (in 3 ), Q.gilva (in 2 ), Castanopsis cuspidata (in 18), C.c.sieboldii (in 10), Q.aliena (in 1 ), Q.sarrata (in 18), Q.acutissima (in 3 ), and Castanea crenata (in 8 ). Seven of them were common species through this area and the rest were not. The distributions of them including common species, however,were different considerably when shrines were divided into 3 districts
