Fagaceae in the compound of 74 shrines in Yamaguchi City was investigated. Ten species, 7 evergreen broad-leaved trees and 3 deciduous broad-leaved' trees, belonging to 3 genera of Fagaceae were found. They are Q.glauca (in 63 shrines), C.cuspidata (39), Q.serrata (20), Q.acutissima (17), C.crenata (11), Q.gilva (4), Q.salicina (4), Q.mirsinaefolia (3), Q.sessilifolia (1), C.cuspidata sieboldii (1). Only the five shrine's forests have not Fagaceae as their component and there are about two species of them in the 69 shrines of the 74 shrines on the average. Q.glauca and C.cuspidata are principle tree in the compound of these shrines.
