Descriptions
In order to investigate the bacterial contamination of clothes by drycleaning, the aseptic cloth was treated with Naphtha or Perchloro-ethylene and the adhered bacteria were isolated. Then, they were identified and counted their population. The results obtained were sa follows : 1)There was no difference among genera of bacteria isolated from materials treated with Naphtha and Perchloro-ethylene. Both Gram-positive bacteria, including cocci and bacilli, and Gram-negative bacilli were observed abundantly on the cloth. Some species of Genus Staphylococcus were mostly recognized among the bacteria isolated from the cloth, and somtimes S.aureus was also observed in them. These results suggest that the pattern of bacterial contamination of cloth by bacteria after dry cleaning was almost similar to that of normal flora oft he human skin. 2)The number of the living aerobes was less than that of the living anaerobes on the cloth treated with Perchloro-ethylene. And the number of the living aerobes on the cloth treated with Naphtha and Perchloro-ethylenewas also less than those found in 1977. It is considered that bacterial contamination on the clothes by drycleaning may be present in general.
