The specie of Fagacea in the compound of 27 shrines in Nishiki-cho, 12 shrines in Mikawa-cho, 10 shrines in Hongo-son, and 32 shrines in Miwa-cho was investigated. Fourteen species belonging to four genera, 8 broad-leaf evergreen species and 6 broad-leaf deciduous species, were identified : Q.acuta (in 1 shrines), Q.glauca (in 50 shrines), Q.gilva (in 5 shrines), Q.salicina (in 10 shrines), Q.myrsinaefolia (in 26 shrines), Q.sessilifolia (in 16 shrines), Lithocarpus glabra (in 7 shrines), Castanopsis cuspidate (in 8 shrines), Q.variabilis (in 11 shrines), Q.dentata (in 2 shrines), Q.acutissima (in 4 shrines), Castanea crenata (in 31 shrines), Q.serrata (in 26 shrines), and Q.crispula (in 2 shrines). The average number of species per a compound in Nishiki-cho, Mikawa-cho, Hongou-son and Miwa-cho was 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 and 2.9, respectively. In this area, Q.glauca and Castanea crenata are dominant and common species
