The questionnaires were sent out to 84 veterinary clinics, and 792 public homes and services for the aged and/or the handicapped and day-care centers for the elderly in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Their answers indicated that many veterinarians, as well as administrators, managers and instructors of the homes and services, have not been well exposed to the concept of Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). They also indicated that many homes and services wish to include AAA as a part of their daily activities for their dwellers and clients if it is safe and inexpensive. In conclusion, it can be said that training veterinarians, medical doctors, and instructors is necessary, to lead such activities, as specialists of AAA and AAT.
