A survey was carried out on the cultural methods, growth and yield of rice of about 40 paddy fields in the western district of Oosima-gun. When rice varieties, cultural techniques and environmental factors were inadequate, yield was low even in the good soil field. When the field management was adequate, rather higher yield was obtained even in the bad soil field.
