There seems to be a lot of modifying components that work on the Zoellner figure negatively to reduce its illusory amount (1). Some of them are shown in Fig. 1. In Fig. 1, d) and e) have been measured to be most effective (2). Figure d) resulted from the application of Kobayashi's solution of the Poggendorff illusion (3) to the Zoellner. This will suggest that the ”overestimation of an acute angle” plays, here again, one of the important role to help to explain the Zoellner illusion. Figure e) is an ordinary Zoellner without its crossing zone
