エジプトの家具は,一般にその構成が簡素で優美である。それは現在と違って技術そのものが素朴であった事も原因している。例へば,甲板と脚,脚とさん木の接合にピンを用いているのを見てもわかる。このように製材の技術も加工も素朴であったために,甲板のエッジの形も,図1に示すように一枚板のムク材を何となく切断したという形である。テーブルには三本脚のくふうが見られるが,甲板のエッジに迄は考えが及ばなかったと見るできであろう。ギリシア時代の家具には,幾何学的曲線の輪郭をもつもの,獣脚型のもの,実用的意匠をこ
