The factoer which could be thought the back ground of peptic ulcer were examined by the functional test of digestive tract and a questionnaire obtained from the man diagnosed by endoscopy. As a result, duodenal ulcer is associated with gastric acid secretion and gastric atrophic pattern, and gastric ulcer tends to be associated with body weight. Moreover, nervousness, smoking, and ABO blood groups tend to be associated with both deudenal ulcer and gastric ulcer On the contrary, alcohol, coffee or tea, and the irregularity of diet are not associated with peptic ulcer.
