The peel colours of each 4 varieties of Wase-unshiu and Futsu-unshiu, and one strain of Beni-unshiu were estimated with the Color Differencemeter. On the other hand, the carotenoid pigments of 9 varieties were fractionated, and purified with column chromatography, and then were identified with their spectral properties. Next, the correlative relations between the chromatic values on the Hunter solid and the contents or constituents of carotenoids were discussed. 1.
