著者はBacillus aneurinolyticus(Kimura et Aoyama)の17時間培養を電子鏡検した所、intactcell と連結している Semi-ghost cell の存在をみとめた。このSemi-ghost cell形成機作として形態、配列連結状態から考えて、発芽増殖時の自家融解、母細胞が娘細胞へ原形質を吸収されること、等のものが推定された。なお、Semi-ghost cellの微細構造、内部顆粒等についても言及した。
