Fagaceae in the copmpound of 41 shrines in Hohu City, 38 shrines in Tokuchi-chyou, and 21 shrines in Kano-chyou was investigated. The average number of spiecies per a compund was 1.7, 2.3, and 2.5, respectively. And fifteen species, 11 broad-leaf evergreen species and 4 broad-leaf deciduous species, belonging to four genera, were found : Quercus phillryaeoides (in 2 shrines), Q.salicina (in 12), Q.glauca (in 63), Q.myrsinaefolia (in 20), Q.sessilifolia (in 5), Q.acuta (in 1), Q.gilva (in 2), Q.serrata (in 25), Q.variabilis (in 4), Q.acutissima (in 15), Castanopsis cuspidata (in 19), C.c.sieboldii (in 4), Lithocarupus edulis (in 3), L.glarba (in 4), and Castanae crenata (in 35). Some of them were common species through this area. Their distributions, however, were different considerably when shrines were divided into 3 districts. In a coastal district, Hohu City, Q.glauca and Castanopsis were dominant. On the other hand, in a moutainous district, Kano-chyou, Q.salicina, Q.myrsinaefolia Q.serrata, and Q.acutissima were dominant. The spicies found in Tokuchi were simillar to those in Hohu City.
