Through the courtesy of Dr. Ichiro TOMIYAMA, Professor of Tokyo University, the author was given an opportunity of examining an anthinid fish deposited in the Biological Laboratory, of the Imperial Household. This fish was collected by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan himself from the eastern part of Sagami Bay. Upon careful examination of it, it was found that it represented a new genus and species which is described herein as Zacallanthias sagamiensis. The author wishes to express his sincere gratitude to His Majesty who kindly permitted him to examine the specimens preserved in the Biolgical Laboratory. Special thanks are also due to Dr. TOMIYAMA for his showing favour tathe author in various ways.
