We investigated the effects of lipiodol on regenerating liver in rats. Rats of control group were given intra-arterial injection in a dose of 0.1ml (Group I ) and standard two-thirds hepatectomy was performed 1 week after injection. Intra-arterial lipiodol in a dose of 0.05ml (Group II), 0.1ml (Group III), 0.15ml (Group IV) and 0.2ml (Group V) was given to the remaining rats and hepatectomy was performed in the same way. Animal survival, wet weight and the mitotic activity of the remnant liver were examined. The survival rate was 100% in Groups I. II and III
