An epidemiological study of liver function was done on the 1,412 workers of Mitsubishi Shimonoseli Shipyard & Engine Works in 1988 (from 9th May to 9th June). The results obtained are follows : 1. Male has higher frequency of abnormal values of lover function than female. 2. The population of over grade B1 are 36.4% of male and 21.5% of female. And the population of oer grade B2 are 12.5% of male and 2.5% of female. 3. Male groups of 30's, 40's and 50's generation have higher frequency of abnormal values of liver function than 20's male group. 4. Light workers have more frequent abnormal values of liver function than the other works. 5. According to the frequent abnormality of γ-GTP value, threr may be many people with alcoholic liver damage in our workers. It is important to prevent the liver damage especially for the people of 40's and light workers.
